Hi! I’m Chels!

I am a dog loving mom of two pups, one human, and upwards of 30 house plants. I love being outside, nerdy fantasy books, alt indie music, whiskey, and tacos. I am incredibly sarcastic, I swear way too fucking much, and I absolutely live for taking photographs. I do it for my job, I do it for fun, I do it for artistic release (and no money haha - here is a link to my ‘other photography’). And I don’t wanna brag but I’m like really good at it :)

I have been photographing for 20 plus years - seriously, (around 4th grade according to a homework assignment I wanted to be a photographer when I grow up) I started buying disposable cameras, till I got a real film one (thanks uncle Darrel). I have my undergraduate degree in photography and an MFA in photography. I might be the most “trained” wedding photographer you ever come across.

I really do love photographing weddings, I love to bring the hype and the creativity that feeds the engery of wedding days. I may be a little biased, but its the best job ever. When it comes to photography and life, my philosophy is simple — come as you are and prioritize the connections you have with people you love most. That is what I love to photograph and did I mention? I am damn good at it ;)

FAQs

What’s included in your wedding package?

Each wedding is unique and requires a personalized approach. However, at a minimum, all weddings include an engagement session, and no time limit. From there, I’m happy to discuss any custom add-ons you might be interested in. Include those specifics in your inquiry and we can discuss! Please see my pricing page for more details.

What is your plan in case of emergency—for example, you or a second photographer get sick?

Chelsea Reeck is a team of creatives, in the event of an emergency one of the other team members would cover your wedding day. I also have relationships with many other local photographers willing to step up in the event of an emergency.

How long have you been shooting weddings?

I have been shooting weddings for over 12 years! I started in college for a few friend-of-a-friend weddings and have been shooting weddings and growing in the industry ever since. My photography background is extensive. I have an undergraduate degree in photography and a master’s degree in photography. I have taught photography at Augsburg University and Minneapolis College of Art and Design. I also always have creative side projects going. I live and breathe my craft!

Do you travel?

Yes! Chelsea Reeck Photography is a collective of creatives that have a passion for capturing love stories.

Do you have recommendations for scheduling the wedding day?

Definitely, I am usually part photographer, part best friend, and part wedding coordinator for my clients. That means I can offer advice, and I will help build your perfect timeline for the most smooth sailing wedding day ever! PS. I offer free consultations if you need some advice (even if you don’t book me).

The engagement and wedding photo experience that Chelsea provided us was better than we ever could have imagined! From the initial consultation meeting to our wedding day, Chelsea was amazing every step of the way! At our initial consultation, my wife and I had some general ideas about what we wanted, but Chelsea helped shape our ideas into an amazing vision. She was flexible on things we didn't want to budge on, and she had a lot of expertise in the things we weren't sure about. She helped plan out our wedding timeline so every part of the ceremony and reception occurred at the right time to get great photos. For our engagement photo shoot, she was willing to meet us anywhere in the twin cities and had a lot of knowledge on where all the best angles and backdrops would be. We had our engagement photo shoot near the Stone Arch Bridge, and she helped us get some great photos in a pretty short amount of time. On our wedding day, she went above and beyond her duties. She helped with some last-minute setup so that our family photos could turn out perfect. Our couple photos before and after the ceremony were absolutely stunning; she knew the perfect time to get golden hour photos during the reception and found amazing backdrops for us during the pre-ceremony photos. She even walked around our venue and found the most fantastic and hidden spot for sunset photos. During the ceremony, she took photos from a million different angles and knew where to be at the perfect time to capture all of the special moments of our ceremony.
